We provide high quality Nursery Education for children aged from 2 to 4 years. Our fully qualified teachers work alongside qualified teaching assistants to develop innovative and exciting learning opportunities for all our children, based on individual interests and observations.
Our Image of the Child is at the heart of all our planning as these are the aims and values we hold for all of our pupils. The Early Years Foundation Stage document is followed by all staff and this is also used when assessing the skills and learning of all children.
All learning environment provides a safe space for children to explore and develop their creativity and problem solving skills. Staff work with children so they recognise how they are learning and also how they are developing learning characteristics which can be transferred to many different activities throughout their lives. Our environment is constantly enhanced by additional learning opportunities to support the children to achieve their very best. Children's learning is documented by staff and is regularly shared with parent and carers.
All our pupils are supported by a Key Worker and the Nursery School also employs a Pupil and Family Support Worker. We work with many different professionals, such as Health Visitors, Speech and Language Specialists etc to support the whole family. This support, and a carefully planned transition programme ensures that children settle very quickly when they first start attending our Nursery School.
Each day all children take part in short activities which are planned to develop their skills in phonics. These are based on the Government document "Letters and Sounds" and develop the children's early reading and writing skills.
All our staff attend Safeguarding training each year and all hold Paediatric First Aid certificates. Our staff also support the education of adults looking to start a career working with young children as we train teachers and teaching assistants at Nursery School.
